CELTIC skipper Scott Brown was in the dark last night over bizarre reports from Bursaspor that he has agreed to move to Turkey on a three-year deal.
Record Sport understands Brown was astonished to learn of the claim made by one of the SuperLig side's directors who has been despatched to Britain on a summer recruitment drive.
Erkan Kamat had been told to land UK-based players including Rangers pair Steven Whittaker and Maurice Edu and West Brom keeper Scott Carson, who is believed to be on the verge of doubling his money with a move to the Turks.
Former Celtic midfielder Landry Nguemo has also been made an offer.
Whittaker is increasingly keen on the idea of doubling his wages despite being warned off a move by his close pal Kenny Miller, who is desperate to quit the club just six months after joining them from Rangers on a £50,000-a-week deal.
But now Bursa insist Brown is ready to make the switch - and that they are haggling with Celtic over his transfer fee.
Kamat said: "Agreement has been reached with Whittaker, Nguemo and Carson. Brown had also agreed a three-year deal but our value of the player is different to what Celtic think. We still hope things will be tied up in a matter of days."
All this came as a surprise to Brown yesterday as he returned home from hospital with wife Lisa and their new baby boy Shay. Brown is unaware of any contact from Bursa and, in fact, is desperate to follow the lead of boss Neil Lennon by signing a new deal.
But Whittaker is interested in finding out more and the Turks are preparing a FOURTH bid for him.
?? What a lot of shite, anything these cunts write in the paper just seems to get more unreal by the day. Anything they can do to drag our main players out of the club, usual garbage.but if this story has anY partial truth ie the director of bursa claiming falsely that brown has signed a contract or whatever,is that not tapping up a player or unsettling for the player and his employing club?? Celtic should tie action against them for this.
