Own goal costs Celtic in Europa League clash.

Celtic yet again cost themselves valuable points in the Europa League against Rennes.
A very poor defensive error gave Rennes an unlikely lead. A poor pass back from Cha Du-ri left a helpless Fraser Forster in no mans land,as the ball rolled cheaply past him into the net.
Celtic showed little in the first half and looked sluggish all over the park. The midfield created very little, and a schoolboy own goal made Celtic look like a pub team.
The second half was much better, picked up the pace and created a couple of decent chances. Ledley to be fair did well with the goal, but didn’t really see too much of the goal to guide it home.
Celtic didn’t deserve the 3 points,a draw was fair in the end,but every Celtic fan must be seriously concerned about the discipline in the team when it comes to performances.
Against Kilmarnock and again tonight the defence was a shambles at times. They looked to be all at sea at times, and were broken down quickly and easily at the back. The midfield created little, kayal had a poor game, and continued to be particularly unimpressive, and lacked any real dig.
All in all after the calamity of the own goal,Celtic did come back reasonably well to gain a point.
But this kind of level of performance cannot be allowed to become the norm for glasgow Celtic. Celtic should be able to compete favourably with these kinds of teams. No disrespect to the likes of Rennes, but Celtic should be able to at least play football against the likes of them.
I sand by what I have commented on in recent weeks. Nei l Lennon is rapidly running out of excuses, fans are running out of ways to continue to back him, I still believe his days are numbered. For o e simple reason….lessons do not seem to be getting learned, and it could get a lot worse in the next few games if things aren’t sorted out and quickly.
Take notng away from coming away from Rennes with a point, any resukt away frohome avoiding defeat has to be credited, but we are the mighty bhoys in green and White, we should be seen as a team that is to be respected in Europe, and to be honest, no one has that respect for us now as a serious threat.
I will take the point we got tonight, but take it as simply one point out of three. It’s not a positive 1 point,as i think the result to be fair flatters the current squad to be fair.
I guess i could be seen as a disgruntled old school Celtic fan,but then again, I’ve seen the good and the bad,and I know celtic can and should be better than this.
Anyway,it’s a point away in Europe,It keeps us in the competition for now. But things must change nag almost immediately if our fortunes are going to change. We have 2 tough games up next against Aberdeen then hibs,we have to be careful or we could be looking up the table at a very big gap come the return leg against rennes in 2 weeks time.
I’d say that Neil Lennon ad the guys have until then before real judgment can be passed as to whether or not our fortunes will change going into the winter months.
But anyway,hail hail.
