Celtic win over Aberdeen, as Dons fans show ugly side.
October 23, 2011 by lummy316 | Edit
Celtic came out on top today after a dogged display saw them take all three points. Celtic controlled the game throughout and threatened a few times to pull ahead. A couple of good goals scored today, hopefully a sign of good things that have yet to come.
Not much more to be said about today’s performance, accept it was a much needed win on the back of a decent game away in Europe. All in all the result was what mattered.
Now on to my real point tonight. Having just returned home from a long shift at Celtic park, my real reason for posting this was that there was a fair chunk of Aberdeen fans today who sought out to create an unpleasant atmosphere for most.
Within 2 mins of the game kicking off,I had to eject one fan for persistent foul language and abuse of one Celtic player, a comment that was so ill-mannered and disgusting that he was thrown out immediately. For obvious reasons I cannot repeat the sentence, but I’m pretty sure even the most decent rangers fan would agree that it would be something to turn ones stomach.
There was the usual f’ing and blinding, which to a point is fair enough, it’s football,it’s meant to drum up emotion.
But some of the comments flying out of the northerners mouths was disgraceful, this is all in earshot distance, you know the sort of mumble under the breath chatter etc, thats meant to be heard for anyone who wants to hear it….u get me?
There’s no place for this at any sporting venue, and at Celtic park,at least efforts are made to stamp this out. Football is all about opinions, just like everything else, but some things should be left away from the game.
Beram Kayal took a few pelters, which saw one guy being asked to leave, and police dealing with him, racial abuse I believe. This just happening not long after the announcement went out before todays game stating the awareness campaign of Celtic AND Aberdeen backing it to stamp it out, within minutes of the game kicking off,one daft lad was thrown out for this comment. Also Lennon was getting it from all angles as well, and police were quick to jump in and let the dons fans know that under no uncertain terms that this behaviour would land them in a cell for the night. Kudos to them.
Bangura also had a few comments made also,of similar nature.
A lot of this was only in general earshot of people close by,but im sure Celtic fans closest to them could hear several disgusting comments made. I believe also a couple of Aberdeen lads were asked to leave after chanting to a disabled Celtic fan near them, after making a few “jokes”.
This kind of behaviour isn’t welcome at Celtic park,as much as it isn’t welcome anywhere else. Today showed me anyway, that if you don’t follow the green and White, then you certainly are against them. Aberdeen fans disgusted me today. I expected the odd little thing that you get from most travelling supporters but some of what was witnessed today was disgusting, and am ashamed in each one of those who sought out to act in the despicable ways they did.
I hope Celtic continue to crack down on this,as I know our fans get heavily challenged when they travel away, rest assured we will treat any supporter travelling to Celtic park with dignity and respect, whoever you are or wherever you may be from, but rules are rules, break them and we will step up the game to seek that justice is done to those who threaten the place we like to think is paradise.
Yob culture in football needs to be addressed as today opened my eyes clearly that some people will stoop to unfounded levels just to cause trouble for us.
Hail hail.
