Cops and Bloggers. Celtic fans concerned about UEFA probe.

Well it was coming! Of course it was coming. It was just a matter of where and when. The Celtic faithful finally find themselves back under the microscope again for “sectarian” chanting.
There had been many a suggestion as to what this alleged chanting was, but we all clearly know what these things are. Obviously the charge in question I believe relates to the chanting at Celtic park in the last Europa League match against Rennes, where a “section” of home supporters were accused of chanting in verses referring to the IRA.
As some may or may not know,a couple of us working on this forum site work in various capacities at Celtic park, and can absolutely 100% confirm that the claims of said police officer who reported the incidents to the UEFA match delegates are correct,to the point that they did indeed happen.
But as many have seen all over the media,Internet blogs and elsewhere, many Celtic fans are concerned that this will land Celtic in serious trouble. So let’s look at this.
Where does the chanting originate at the Celtic games?it’s safe to say that it starts in the regions of 111, that isn’t up for debate. We all know the political stances that they take at times, but this is in no way,by any means saying that they dont try their best to bring an atmosphere to Celtic park.
A few chants have reared their heads in recent months and I for one, when I hear it at Celtic park am sick of it. IRA chants,Fenian army and others…..what does this have to do with football? Yes there will be many who say,”it’s party of society,it’s now part of the game,so deal with it”, but that’s wrong,I go to watch football, belt ma lungs out and support the team,I don’t want involved in Irish political chanting etc.
There are just some things that don’t need to be instigated at Celtic park. Over the radios at Celtic park all we hear is ” aggression from 111,verbal abuse from 111,sectarian chanting from 111″. It must stop. Nobody is above the law, nobody, everyone at Celtic park is paying for the privilege of parking their arses on a green seat, all in the name of wanting to watch a football team become a success. That’s the name of the game is it not?….football…not ,not fienianarmyball or any other sectarian related phrase.
Now saying that not everyone is above the law, that takes me to the next point. Who in the he’ll does this police officer think he is. He by all accounts that we are aware of,didnt report this to the club immediately on hearing what he complained about. He didn’t report this to his chief officer on duty or any other member of the police. Instead he took it upon himself and sneakily went straight to the UEFA delegates at the game against Rennes and complained. Now have I a Problem with him pointing out that what was being sung was not acceptable and offensive,of course not,I agree with him,but it’s the way that he went about his act against the fans and the club by not following the correct protocol.
The officer in question should be investigated and punished for not taking the correct course of action, not for the fact that he reported the incident,of that he isn’t in any way guilty,as I believe many celtic fans at park head are complaining about their own also.
It seems a bit bizarre that some sections of support feel stringing about being seen as not being criminalised like others for the same actions, but continue to defy the laws they are trying to set against others.
Surely it isn’t one rule for one,and one for another.
This sectarian garbage has gone on for long enough, and it’s one of the main reasons that Scottish football is on it’s knees,in the gutter. Football in scotland is dead, and instead yob culture, modern warfare if you will has taken it’s place. Football now is nothing more than a political and religious platform for those who choose to continue their individual hate campaigns against anything or anything they don’t agree with.
Now ask yourself why nobody wants to touch Celtic or rangers with a bathrooms and I’m sure you will be smart enough to figure it out.
We talk about change in football, well if Celtic are found guilty of such chanting, you can bet your hoops top that any changes to the game now, won’t be as favourable to Celtic as you think.
