With various reports, witness account, videos and stories coming From the incident which occurred on Sat 16/3/13, where an estimated 100-200 supporters, most of who were green brigade were targeted by approx 200 police officers, with vehicles and horses into the dozens, for what was believed to have been an unofficial or illegal protest march.
Various sources stated that this march was not allowed to take place as there had been no applied for permission to facilitate such an event. However police have been quoted as saying that the march could take place on the pavements which the group refused to do.
So many variants of what actually happened. There are several videos showing the incident, but none have surfaced so far of what happened just before the mass of police became present. This would shed more light on why things got to the stage they did.
Ultimately there will be many many differences of opinion and not everyone will share the same view on what happened, and why it happened. But surely this cannot go on. The green brigade have highlighted for many months now that they are being harassed by police on a regular basis and not just a football matches, but at home and at places of employment, and in other cases.
There may be some "cat and mouse " games being played by both the police and fans, but surely something must be done after what has been witnessed this past weekend.
No matter whether the GB had planned a march or not, people have the right to express an opinion freely without incident, as was believed that the group was wishing to participate in a peaceful march to raise awareness of recent issues with police and their actions.
Please vote on our poll and let us kow your thoughts on the latest incident involving Celtic and the police. What should be done?
